The House of Smoke: The Track Layout
While many drifting venues utilize flat parking lots or oval tracks, Road Atlanta offers a dramatic, natural amphitheater with massive elevation changes. The drift course itself is centered around the iconic Turn 10 complex.
Drivers initiate their slides at blind, triple-digit speeds coming down the back straight. They throw their cars sideways into Turn 10a, transitioning through Turn 10b, before navigating a technical, uphill loop that brings them back toward the bridge.
Because of the steep topography, cars must fight both gravity and momentum. If a driver makes a mistake, the gravel traps and concrete walls are notoriously unforgiving. However, when executed perfectly, the result is a breathtaking display of synchronized, $1000\text{+ horsepower}$ tandem battles engulfed in massive, billowing clouds of vaporized tire smoke.
